Sharing my excitement
As a designer/handweaver, which part comes first? It takes a lifetime of learning a craft to get to the point where an idea can be executed with the artist's voice. In my opinion, techniques contribute to the original concept but shouldn't overwhelm the completed garment. Color, drape, and fit are still essential to the final product.

December starts with two special events
December starts with two special events.
First, there is a Special Edition Issue of Tearsheet PDX magazine of my new work! In this issue, my goal was to convey the story behind the work as well as to show you what wearing handwoven can look like. Working with models in a photography studio under the direction of Tearsheet PDX produced exceptional results.
If you are interested in viewing the magazine online for free, go to

New Designs
I have been working on new designs this Fall, with a focus on collars. Tearsheet PDX magazine asked if I was interested in a photo shoot. Work in my studio went into high gear to be ready. Now the November Issue is published, and six of my images were included. (Happy dance!) It is always an honor to have the opportunity to work with Tearsheet PDX magazine.

Behind the scenes of a photoshoot
Last month, Melanie Jackson of TearSheet PDX magazine asked me if I was interested in having a photoshoot of my new work. She knew that I had been working away at some new coat and jacket designs. My theme was “It’s going to be a collars-turned-up kind of season.” I have been exploring some new collar designs and enjoying it. Just the mention of a photoshoot put work in the studio into high gear. Could I create 12 new pieces in time?

Change of Plans
The plan was to return to art fairs this fall. I have been packing the van, making new inventory, and redesigning my art fair booth in anticipation of traveling to 2021 art fairs. Those plans have now changed.
In order to minimize the risk to myself and my family, I must wait a little longer to return to art fairs. This has been a hard decision.
I am a creative person, looking for a solution to this situation. I have spent the past year learning how to go "Virtual". Now,

Slideshow at the Beach, or how to have a photoshoot without the sand....
This year I have explored many different ways to create “content” videos. Without being able to experience the fabrics first hand, these videos become the next best thing to trying on a garment.
These videos offer a glimpse into the Oregon Weaver’s World of Wearable Art.
Virtual Art Fairs are here to stay. Stay tuned for the upcoming Spring on-line events.
Enjoy.

Like a Leaf on the Wind
Model Oksana Bell wears the Windy City Coat and is at her best dancing like a leaf in the wind.
I have had trouble sleeping lately. When most are fast asleep, I spend these wakeful hours creating short videos. The concept of showing the fabric in motion has been driving me to learn some video skills. Art Fairs, that were cancelled last year, are just starting to plan for Fall 2021. Until we can meet in person again, please enjoy these short videos.
