Workshops

A girl designing a garment with trash bags.
Teaching a design workshop

In May, I will be teaching two different workshops and presenting a slideshow of my textile adventures in Italy to the Central Oregon Weavers Guild. One workshop utilizes trash bags as a starting place for designing a garment. The most important part of that workshop is learning to stop seeing the trash bag as a trash bag, and start seeing the elements and qualities of the bag to reimagine it as a garment. Handweavers spend a long time weaving their fabrics and the idea of cutting the fabric can be intimidating. Practicing with the trash bags will be a warm up session. The second workshop will be about cutting their own fabrics and exploring ways to make unique garments fit for the runway.

I have been weaving and sewing my own unique handwoven designs for many years and am happy to be sharing this knowledge with others. My goal is to encourage and inspire weavers using their own handwoven fabrics.

Check out the workshops I offer here.

Next month, I will send you the list of juried art fairs that I submitted an application to and have been accepted to display my work. There is always some anxious anticipation. You can look forward to the results just as much as I will.
