It is midnight. From the fourth floor of my room at the Hotel Pendini, I am watching a store display window being changed for a high-end retail store. The window is hinged to open out onto the sidewalk. Workers are busy cleaning the glass and installing electrical fittings, as the new window display components sit on the cobblestone street, wrapped and cushioned for shipping. It is an elaborate and shiny display!

I am the featured artist in the Fiber Arts Studio Gallery exhibit that runs through June 19 at the Lincoln City Cultural Center. Each of these dress forms is waiting for a new garment. If you are wondering what the excitement is all about, April 29 - June 19, 2022 are the dates for my upcoming exhibit at the Fiber Arts Studio in the Lincoln City Cultural Center, Lincoln City, OR? I am accumulating dress forms for the exhibit because I feel strongly that these garments need the human form to be complete. Hangers can be nice for display, but they lack sculptural dimension.

December starts with two special events. First, there is a Special Edition Issue of Tearsheet PDX magazine of my new work! In this issue, my goal was to convey the story behind the work as well as to show you what wearing handwoven can look like. Working with models in a photography studio under the direction of Tearsheet PDX produced exceptional results. Here is a short video of Vests made from my handwoven cloth. In addition to weaving the cloth, I enjoy adding other textile techniques to the garments. This week I will be working on a custom order vest. I can't wait to begin. Custom orders begin with a visit by Zoom and are followed by swatches mailed to the client. This way, the color and texture are actually in the client's hands for the full experience of color and texture.

Inspiration draws upon a trip to the beach at the Oregon Coast.

There is something magical about fabrics made on a loom. It is a slow, thoughtful process. Ideas and inspiration are woven into creating the finished cloth. The threads on the looms resonate with color harmonies as they tell a story drawn from where I live or places I have seen. My studios are on the Oregon Coast, a magical place unto itself. Wind and water inspire textures and colors for my fabrics. Wherever these fabrics go, they will tell a Northwest story.
